To make The Top five thrillers of all time I used Photoshop for the 5. Firstly I got the number 5 and made it red, more like the colour of blood as much as I could. I then added different affects to it. One was the Satin effect which made the blood look darker. Also added Bevel and Emboss and texture so it would look like dried blood. After this I added another layer and this was with the brush tool and the red paint. You then hold down the shift key and drag down. This makes sure that the lines are straight when going down. I then added little bit of blood splatters. Unit51 Blog shelley sopp

DPS 2nd Blog
Here I positioned and resized the images to get the right look what I wanted. I also inserted drop cap. I made sure that the font size was controlled throughout so that it was at size 11 so that it would fit onto the page properly.

To make my front cover firstly I made sure the I inserted guide lines. Also I then added strobing this is where the text goes from red to white through it all.
I then made sure that I had layers for everything that I needed.
Here you see that marks head is behind the Film of Total film and we needed it to be in front so I removed part of marks face and placed it onto another layer.

Magazine production first entry
Firstly I created a blank space for my front cover. The size of this was 219 mm by 285 mm and it was changed to 300 dpi. This was then when I opened up my image that I am using for my front cover. Once the image was added I changed the brightness contrast. This made the image look a little more alive and gave it more of a deeper thought like I wanted. I also added in some dodge and burn to add more lighter and darker bits into different parts that I thought needed tweaking.

How I set up my column guides
When setting up my column guides I made sure that I measured up the inside and outside of everything and make sure that everything was going to fit into place.
After this I fixed in templates to show where I was going to put the images and the text. This made it easier to do overall.

photo shop front cover imagery
Firstly I changed the resolution of the image from 72 DPI to 300 DPI. I done this by going onto image size and changing the resolution and then reset the re-sample image. This makes the image more clear and better to print. The second things that I done was changed the brightness contrast of the image. I first change the brightness from 0-11 and then the contrast from 0-35. I also added desaturate to the image this makes the image look black and white.
The third thing that I was change the sharpness of the image. This shows all of the little details of the image and it does not look as blurry as the original image.
Here I changed the appearance of someone's nose using the clone stamp tool. This gets rid of the imperfections on a persons face. You need to make sure that you are pressing around the part of the image you want to change. You press Alt and then click on the image. This will get rid of any of the imperfections on the image.

Here I have changed the curves in the image. It is called the cross process affect and makes the image colours stand out more and gives it a 1980s effect.
Here I have desaturated the image and then changed the brightness to 30 and the contrast to 23.
Here there is only a slight change to the image but I added noise to the image and this makes the image a little more grainy.
I added dodge and burn to this image. This makes it a little darker and a little lighter in places.Wednesday, 15 April 2015
